How PigeonBike Works

- We publish a print issue every now and then. Specific calls, themes, and guidelines will be given.
- We publish books and chapbooks (submission by invitation only). See PigeonBike Store

Submission Guidelines

READ SOME OF THE POEMS ARCHIVED ON THE SITE AT VERY LEAST! You'll quickly appreciate our blood & bone affinities. Pared down. Real.

We are first and foremost interested in poetry. Short, long, new school or old school, it just has to be good. Is that subjective? Yes. It has to be PigeonBike good. Better?

Artwork linked to poems -- those image triggers we all encounter -- and photography will also be accepted. When submitting, keep files to a reasonable size, in jpeg format. If we decide to use them in a print issue, we'll ask for hi-rez, full size files.

The only deciding factor for us is excellence. Typos, improper grammar, sloppiness, etc. will result in immediate rejection. Also, any clichés will result in a) a groan, and b) immediate rejection.

Please send us 3-5 poems, or a few photographs; if we want or require more, we'll ask you. Please include a short bio about yourself.

No previously published work (in print or online). No simultaneous submissions.

Submit to: pigeonbike@bell.net

We will try to keep our response times reasonable. After a month or so, if you have not heard from PigeonBike, please drop us an email. Sometimes, you may hear back in a few hours if our timelines cross.

PS - we also reserve the right to comment on work submitted.

Rights & Payment

PigeonBike retains First Time Electronic or First Print Rights (in the case of our Print issues) for all published works. All other rights thereafter revert to the author or artist.

"Once we decide to put a poem, piece of prose, or artwork on PigeonBike, it's still the artist's work. We would just like to be mentioned if and when you put that poem, prose or artwork back out, elsewhere in the wild, wild world, either physical or electronic."

PigeonBike is a nonpaying market.

"We are just storytellers and poets ourselves. We pay everyone of our contributors with respect and hopefully exposure. Our goal is to put good poetry and art on the web and in print for others to read and enjoy."

Thanks - R L Raymond, Editor
